From René Lalique to a global design legacy
René Lalique rose to prominence in 1882 as one of Paris’s most innovative jewelers. His vision was to make beautiful objects accessible to a wider audience. This philosophy led him from jewelry to glass and crystal. Lalique became a defining figure of art nouveau and later art déco. In 1921, Lalique opened his own glassworks in Wingen-sur-Moder, France, which remains the brand’s sole production site. Under Marc Lalique and later Marie-Claude Lalique, the house evolved into a world-leading creator of crystal glass art.
Iconic vases, series and sculptural objects
Vases are at the heart of Lalique’s collections. Each series explores light, texture and volume, often inspired by flowers, feminine forms and nature. The famous Bacchantes vase is among the most celebrated Lalique creations and a true symbol of the brand’s artistry. Alongside vases, Lalique produces sculptural objects, crystal glass objects, champagne coolers and decanters, frequently released in limited editions. These objects embody elegance, movement and artistic depth.
Craftsmanship, materials and signature quality
All Lalique glass is produced exclusively in Wingen-sur-Moder using a combination of traditional and contemporary techniques. Designs are drawn and modeled before being transformed into wax forms. Through the lost-wax casting process, crystal is shaped into its final form. Each piece is polished to create Lalique’s signature contrast between satin and clear surfaces. Crystal glass is sometimes combined with gold, enamel or horn. After strict quality control, every Lalique object is hand-signed, reflecting exceptional craftsmanship and lasting value.
