La Bretagna is one of only a few tanneries left in Tuscany that employ the traditional technique of vegetable tanning at a high level. They process the hides using leaves, bark and even fruit instead of chemicals. It produces beautiful leather that becomes richer through use. The water required in the process is cleaned and reused.
