1911: Hermann and Eva Franzen transform the residential building Königsallee 42 into a shop in line with plans from architect Paul Mühlenkamp.

1945 – 1948: Dr. Hermann Franzen rebuilds the house which was destroyed by fire bombs during the war. This work was accompanied by the architect Prof. Dr. Helmut Hentrich.
around 1950: Dr. Hermann Franzen is able to purchase a section of land behind the shop. This enables goods delivery from the Steinstraße. Previously, all goods were delivered through the main entrance of the shop.
1964: The sales area is doubled thanks to an extension. In the following years, the large shop hall and the 1st gallery are created through many individual renovations.

1986: The 1st floor towards the Kö is integrated into the shop.
1990: The new passage is created according to plans by the architect Prof. Dr. Ellen Birkelbach.
1996: In a renovation period of 8 months, during which the shop remains open, the shop as it stands today is constructed under the lead of architect Dr. Thilo Hiersig: The 2nd gallery and the glass roof are added and a new staircase forms the connection to the 1st floor. The »cooking and design« department is opened.
2000: On the occasion of the 100-year anniversary of Franzen, the passage is redesigned. The watch and jewelry department »Franzen Jeweler« is subsequently established.

2007: The rear area on the ground floor receives a new design and the stationery department rounds off the product offering.
2008: The manufactory department in the 1st gallery is redesigned.
2010: The »Boutique-3-Marques« with Hermès, Saint-Louis and Puiforcat is created in the 2nd gallery.

2011: The concrete on the ground floor, some of which is already 100 years old, is replaced. The Franzen family opts for a completely new floor: slabs of Meissen porcelain – a world premiere. The cash desk and packaging table are also redesigned.
